Notes
The translator is a Frenchman living in Britain who is supportive of the Revolution. He directs his translation at an American public, saying that the fate of the king is one of the great questions of the world and cannot leave the Americans indifferent. He comments favourably on the works and opinions of Brissot and mentions his American travelogue.
